OPENING P RAYER: The meeting was opened with a Reading from the Gospel of Mark. (Mark 10: 17-27) by Rosemary (The Gospel for this date) 

MINUTES:  The minutes of the January meeting were approved as presented.         

BRIEF COMMITTEE REPORT:

Religious Education: Rosemary Robbins, DRE

1. Sent progress reports for first half of year to parents. Five students with perfect attendance receive

    certificate and gift.

2.  Held Catechists’ meeting Feb 6. Prayer service in honor of St. Valentine emphasizing God’s Love

     led by Pre-K, K and First grades. Discussed planting of tree and memorial plaque for David Ryan, Jr.

3. Memorial tree in loving memory of David Ryan, Jr. approved by Fr. Lawler and Building and Ground     

     Committee. Cards in memory of David were made by children and placed on tree in hall. A tree will

     be planted on the hall grounds in late April.

4 .Baptism Preparation class held for Elzey family on Feb. 12th with mother and Godparents.

5. Three CBC renewal letters with form sent for month of February.

6. Developed First Eucharist parent meeting agenda. Translated inventory form into Spanish. Purchased

    Bilingual First Eucharist candidate books and Spanish “Catholic Know-How for Parents.”

    Enrollment book signed by children and parents. Celebrated the Rite of Enrollment for twelve

    candidates at Mass on Feb. 13th.  

7.  RCIA classes continue every Thursday. Discussed Rite of Election/Call to Continuing Conversion  

        participation on March 13th.  Diocesan Rite to be held in Newark, DE due to Bishop’s schedule.

        Two RCIA teens will attend this service. Three adults will attend ceremony at parish churches. 

8. Informed Office of Worship of intention of RICA teens to participate at ceremony with diocese. 

9. Change bulletin board in hall. Send in Bulletin news weekly. Coordinate and set up weekly Children’s  

        Liturgy of the Word.

Adult Learning: Mark Windmiller: To start Fr. Michael Himes video series on Lenten Journey to be

        followed by Isaiah series using the Paulist Bible study series.

Parish Council: Lee Weldon - no report  

 

Woman's Faith Sharing:  Lois Colaprete: The group has finished the Beth Moore study and will

   be working with “Choosing Joy for Lent” for the next 40 days with “Spiritual Progress” text to follow.           

OLD BUSINESS: 

Lee is still looking for a replacement. 

NEW BUSINESS;            George Vojech presented some of the changes that will take place in the Mass due to the revision             of the Roman Missal. Implementation to take place on the First Sunday of Advent 2011.

George wants to form a committee to work on the changes. He will email info on the meeting dates.

OPENING P RAYER: The meeting was opened with a prayer to St Vincent de Paul on his feast day read by Rosemary Robbins.

 

MINUTES:  The minutes of the August meeting were approved as presented with a motion by Lee seconded by Scottie

 

BRIEF COMMITTEE REPORT:

 

Religious Education: Rosemary Robbins, DRE

1.  Contacted second grade parents concerning First Reconciliation for their children.

2. Ordered new “Come and See” series for RCIA program.

3. Completed Catechists' folders for Sept 9th meeting...

            Distributed Diocesan Policies and Regulations to be read, signed and returned to DRE.

            Read volunteer covenants, were signed, returned and placed on file.

            Discussed Keeping Our Promise Curriculum

            Discussed Safety tips for safe environment.

            Set dismissal policy

            Discussed and distributed Child abuse, neglect and victims assistance brochures.

            Distributed catechists and assistants' listings, tentative student listings.

            Previewed calendar for 2010-2011

            Planned Orientation/Registration for Sept 19th.

4. Sent Orientation/Registration invitation to 45 returning families. Translated into Spanish letter and 

            form for Hispanic parents.

5 Collected information including ethical and behavioral standards for employees to be discuss at

            September 14th staff meeting. (to place in rectory office). Discussed the following items:

            For the Sake of God's Children CD (including CBC), RCIA adapted for Teens program,

            van drivers, Baptism prep classes, orientation/registration/rite of commissioning service

            and blessing of the animals on October 2nd.

6. Ordered Permanent Record forms for new students from Diocesan office.

7. Attended AREA meeting at St. Polycarp, Smyrna DE on September 2nd.

8. Sent registration forms to new parents who contacted DRE about their children attending this   

             year.

9. Completed and sent Children's Liturgy of the Word schedule for next two months. Sent leader's

            guide and weekly child's handout copies to each volunteer with the Volunteer Covenant to be

            signed and returned.

10. Developed first session for RCIA for teens introduction/interview for Thursday Sept 16th.

11. Purchased refreshments for Sunday Sept 19th Orientation. 36 students registered. Developed a   

            prayer service and wealth of materials for parents to build catholic families and to protect

            their families and distributed the scope and sequence per grade level.

            Discussed the theme for this Catechetical Year, “Marriage: Sacrament of Enduring Love.”

            Discussed dismissal policy with authorized adult pick-up and permission slips.

            Discussed discipline policy.

            Encouraged parents to participate in weekly Mass with their children.

12. Developed and presented to each catechist at Orientation a Certificate of Commissioning signed

            by Fr.Lawler.

13. Held a Rite of Commissioning service for catechists on Sept 19th. Developed a blessing for

            parents, guardians and student used by Fr. Lawler at the 11AM Mass.

14. Recorded families registered and sent a list of money collected to Parish office for deposit.

15. Completed attendance sheets for each catechist per grade level.

16. Purchased supplies catechists requested. Placed text in each classroom.

17. Religious Ed classes began Sunday, Sept 26th. An additional 23 students registered. We have

            14 Hispanic and 5 English speaking students and 2 first time registration students who have    

            not registered.

18. Sent Criminal Background Check forms and letters to a new assistant to be completed and

            returned. Send renewal form to volunteer with expiring CBC. Returned adjusted form to

            Human Resources in Wilmington DE

19.  Registered catechists who will attend Southern Parishes Catechists Certification Workshop on 

            Oct. 9th  

 

Adult Learning: Mark Windmiller;

1.Continuing with program by Donald Senior, S.J. Gospel according to St. Matthew. Class is

            meeting on Sunday mornings at 9 am in the parish hall. 6 people in the group

 

Parish Council: Lee Weldon 

Financial Report given. Tom Bosley to retire from committee

            Parish finished year in the black.

            Liturgy committee different aspects need better communication within group.

Members present Scottie Marshall, Rosemary Robbins, Barbara Steiner, Lee Weldon, and Mark Windmiller.  Absent: Fr. Lawler, Jeff Cornwell, and Laura Era.

 

OPENING PRAYER: The meeting was opened with the “Summer Prayer” in honor of the summer season. The prayer was read in unison by those present.

 

MINUTES:  The minutes of the June meeting were approved as presented with a motion by Lee, seconded by Mark 

 

BRIEF COMMITTEE REPORT:

 

Religious Education: Rosemary Robbins, DRE

1. Completed update for all the 70 student files including attendance, grade level and sacraments

            received this past school year.

2.Created a tentative student listing for 2010-2011 school year.

3. Ordered books for 2010-2011 year.

4. Sent letters to 9 possible new Pre-K students’ parents as per baptismal records with addresses

            available in parish records. Placed invitation to parents of 4 and 5 years old children in

            parish bulletin to participate in Religious Ed program this school year.

5. Met and discussed high school curriculum and Confirmation with Laura Weldon. Laura will

            contact family of Nolan Mahon concerning his attendance in Rel Ed program.

6. Ordered material needed for Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and

            Confirmation classes.

7. Sent invitations letters to two teenage boys who attended Rel Ed last year to meet and discuss

            their participation in RCIA for teens with program leaders. Ordered material for this

            program.

8. Contacted Jennifer O’Keefe, Irene Hanson and Lois Colaprete in reference to leading the

            Baptismal preparation class.

9. Confirmation date for parish received from Diocese. Date will be May 8, 2010 at 11:00 Mass.

            16 candidates are scheduled to receive the sacrament.

10. The Sacrament of First Holy Communion will be celebrated on May 1, 2010 with a Live

            Rosary preceding the 11 AM Mass and the Crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary to

            follow the Mass.

 

Women’s Faith Sharing:  stop for the Summer. 

 

Adult Learning: Mark Windmiller

1.Continuing with   program by Donald Senior, S.J. Gospel according to St. Matthew. Class is

            meeting on Sunday mornings at 9 am in the parish hall.

Parish Council: Lee Weldon 

1. Building and Grounds -Painting of Hall classrooms: Original painter (Carlos) is unable to do

            painting. Each catechist will paint own room.

2. Building and Grounds: investigating developing land into Catholic Cemetery continuing

3. Parish and Family Life committee continuing with plans for celebration of 125 years

of Catholics in Cambridge.      .

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Discipline Procedures: Rosemary will get information from other DRE’s in area.

Discussion on What strategies will work, What is effective, Setting boundaries and expectations.

More discussion at next meeting.
