Help us help the parish!

St. Mary's Society Meeting was held on October 5, 2009 at l0 A.M. in the school Library.
In attendance were Ava Asplen, Jill Clark, Ginny Kerbaugh and Erna Hammerton.
Final plans for the Bazaar were formed:
Ava is making Lima Bean Soup; Ginny is making chicken noodle soup.
We will have chicken salad and tuna salad sandwiches on wheat and/or white bread; hot dogs; chips and soda for Lunch.
Set up on Friday is at 10 A.M. to decorate the Hall; make salads for the sandwiches and begin making soup.
Bake table will be handled by Melissa deLuca.
Attic Treasures will be by Nancy Hanmer and Jill Clark (with Joan Woodward).
Bob Hammerton sold 4 American Indian dolls to the Antique Shop for $l00.  He will also manage table at the Bazaar, selling books donated by Deacon Bob with all proceeds to benefit David Ryan.
Erna will get $300 from Barbara Jean to bankroll different tables for Saturday.
Erna will open the building at 7 A.M. on Saturday for vendors to set-up their displays.  Public is in at 8 A.M.
Drawing for raffles will be at 2 P.M. to close Bazaar.  Ginny gave Erna $45.00 as a starting Bank for the Apple Festival. (Event was rained our and the money returned to Ginny.)

Discussion followed concerning the future of the Society.  We cannot continue to operate with only 4 active people (3 of which are over 75 years old).  Is it possible to disband the St. Mary's Society but still maintain
the St. Mary's Altar Society to continue maintenance of the Church?  More people volunteer to work in the Church, but are not active members of the Society.
Also, with only 4 people, it is most difficult to sponsor any further Funeral Luncheons.  Some exceptions could be made for certain parish notables.  Any direction in this matter will be appreciated.

Respectfully submitted,        Erna Hammerton

P.S.  On Monday, November 9, 2009,  a total of $3,577.93 has been turned into Barbara Jean in the Parish Office.  All bills have been paid.  I consider the Bazaar to be a financial success!
